Caramelized Apples – Craft-ILY

I’m back with another beloved apple recipe! Every year I make mostly the same stuff around Fall. I love Fall and everything it involves with the exception of the dreadful weather shifting up and down and never knowing what to wear. Outside of that Fall is beautiful, the leaves changing colors, the crisp air and the scent of apples and pumpkins overwhelm you and make you feel all warm and cozy. In my previous recipe post I told you I wouldn’t be like all of those other recipe bloggers and make you take a trip down memory lane before giving you the good stuff that you came here for and I promise you I am not. I do want to try to get you in the right mood for making my deliciousness and that involves some sweet talking first. What do you need? Apples – about 4-5 of whatever variety you are feeling, me personally I tend to stick with golden delicious or honey crisp they. They have both sweetness and tart that isn’t overwhelming. Pot – I use the 6qt pot and it works really wellCinnamon – about 1 tbspNutmeg – about 1 tsp (optional)Butter – about ¼ stickThat’s it! Next up, we peel and core. This step can be done in many ways, I personally like my apples with no peel so I peel them all then use a cutter to core and slice them. You can purchase the same one I use here on amazon. It has a rubber grip and is fairly easy to use. Once you have them all sliced and cored I like to dice them a little more but that’s a personal preference. You can see here: Then we spice things up! To get the apples seasoned evenly I put the apples in a bowl and pour the spices on and mix it up a bit, folding the apples in so that they all get a good coating like so: Butter up! Now we add the butter to the pot FIRST then we add the apples and turn on medium heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. The butter is not for flavoring, it is more for stickiness, this way the apples don’t stick to the pot or your spoon.
